The Weight field is for recording the actual weight of the item.
The unit of measurement for the weight item is configured via the "General" tab of the Stock Item:
Once the Scale checkbox has been enabled and the weight unit of measurement entered, go to the "Advanced" tab and enter the item's weight into the Weight field.
Note the following when using the Weight function with Shopify or Online eCommerce!
Idealpos will store a 0 in the Weight field.
If the Weight is not included in the exclusion list of the Idealpos Online eCommerce settings, this will wipe any existing Weight fields in the online connected store!
